I feel that these Bills should not be passed for many reason such as school work, without these helpful search engines we would not be able to find such good infomation that we have for our projects, essays, papers, etc. Google and Wikipedia have provided us with such good information and facts involving people, society, the economy, sports, place around the world that maybe some of us have never heard of or would like to learn more about. If they did take awa these search engines we may have to settle for unrelieable or possibly wrong answers or information. These are my reasons why they should not take away these very good search engines of Google and Wikipedia.

1.Wikipedia is “going dark” today in protest against the two Congressional bills, the Stop Online Piracy Act, often called SOPA, and the Protect IP Act, which is often called PIPA. Several provisions in the legislation, including those that may force search engines and Internet service providers to block access to Web sites that offer or link to copyrighted material, would stifle innovation, enable censorship and tamper with the livelihood of businesses on the Internet.

    2. SOPA stands for Stop Online Piracy Act and PIPA stands for Protect IP Act.

    3. The bills have attracted fierce opposition from many corners of the technology industry.

    4. Reddit, the social news site, and BoingBoing, a technology and culture blog plan to protest on Wednesday.

    5. Jimmy Wales is the co-founder of Wikipedia.

    6. He addressed hi students saying Monday on Twitter, writing: “Student warning! Do your homework early. Wikipedia protesting bad law on Wednesday!”
    7. He says that if passed, the bills could censor what information and links that sites like Wikipedia would be permitted to publish.

    8. I think that this is a bad situation, but I think that it isn’t fair to shut down Wikipedia to all users. I think that it should not be usable to the people that force search engines and Internet service providers to block access to Web sites that offer or link to copyrighted material.

    9. In the 13th paragraph, it says: The groundswell of technology leaders, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and public policy advocates galvanizing around a central political issue is unique to the technology industry, which has largely been inactive in lobbying and activities in Washington. But that is changing, Mr. Wales said.

    1. Wikipedia went dark yesterday in protest against SOPA and PIPA, the two Congressional bills who want to block access to websites with links to copyrighted material.

    2. SOPA stands for Stop Online Piracy Act and PIPA stands for Protect IP Act.

    3. The two bills are about property-rights and stopping infringement. Their goal is to stop people from stealing works and to create more jobs because they think it will encourage new writings, products and services.

    4. Besides Wikipedia, Reddit, a social news site and BoingBoing, a technology cultural blog blacked out yesterday.

    5. Jimmy Wales is the co-founder of Wikipedia.

    6. Jimmy Wales addressed students on Monday morning saying ‘’Student warning! Do your homework early. Wikipedia protesting bad law on Wednesday!” Also anyone else who would want to use Wikipedia.

    7. If the bills pass the government would regulate Wikipedia from adding links to their articles.

    8. I think that SOPA and PIPA should not block access to websites with links to copyrighted material because it’s not fair to everyone who doesn’t take material they don’t own to ban them from using a website. I think they should just block the people that do steal material.

    9. The article says the technology industry been ”largely inactive” untl now in the third to last paragraph. Technology leaders, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and public policy advocates galvanizing around a central political issue has largely been inactive in lobbying and activities in Washington.
